Gemma is the capital city of Jalan (Elysium IV), United Empire of Earth (UEE). After the Tevarin surrendered to the United Planets of Earth (UPE) forces at the end of the First Tevarin War, Humans seized control of Gemma and installed their own leaders in positions of power.
Historically, Gemma was a Tevarin stronghold and capital city, selected for its protective geographical features. The UEE has attempted to preserve its historic cultural buildings, but many were lost during the Tevarin wars, the subsequent Purge, and the assimilation of Tevarin culture that followed.
